This is a beutifully made item: the quality of the metal moulding is exquisite, but the neoprene flap that covers the USB connector is flimsily connected. Unlike earlier offerings from Minox, there's no lens cap available and the fitted leather case for the earlier models won't fit since this model is slightly larger.
You have to read the instructions carefully to get better images than are delivered with default settings, particularly EV+ for use in low light, which considerably extend s the range of use.
One problem that I can't get round (and the dealer I spoke to can't either) is that when you switch on with an SD card inserted (which is pretty essential when using maximum image quality), the egg timer shows on the LCD and continues to do so until you get bored and turn off.
As a Leica user, I'm glad I have one, but it's a collector's novelty, not recommended as a user's only camera.

the back light on the screen is poor.
the lack of internal flash is also inconvenient.
i disliked the fact that the bits that were added on to make it look more vintage are useless.
it does look amazing in your hand and is very easy to use.
i would say its more for a collector than somebody who is serious about photography.

Lovely toy 15 Aug 2008
I'm afraid it is only a toy with toy performance. As a Minox buff, I was very disappointed, but it is a lovely toy all the same. No lens cover available but a screw cap from a modern wine bottle fits perfectly and is more fun to replace when lost!
