An Excellent Biochemistry Book....this will grip you and generate that interest, which every first year student is subconsciously attempting to achieve in the subject/s....this will be useful throughout ones life (even if you don't end up becoming a biochemist ....this will make you laugh at/laugh with Grissom (CSI Vegas) when he will do his 15th season.

Lehningers Biochemistry is probably my favorite textbook to use. As an undergrad who WAS not too keen on Biochemistry I find that Lehninger is very detailed and makes studying it enjoyable. Each chapter is broken down further into sub-chapters (sub-titles) and this makes it easier to read around the subject you require as you sometimes undoubtedly need to understand said subject, as thoroughly as possible.
This isnt a textbook to be used once or twice as reference, during the course of your degree or whenever else, this is a textbook that you can use "all day every day" ;p
As Francois Jacob said - "With the cell, biology discovered its atom ... To characterize life, it was henceforth essential to study the cell and analyze its structure."
The above is one of the many quotes that you can find at the start of every chapter in Lehninger.
And as stated, the study of any biological subject, the cell is at the center. Therefore, if you are a student, this is one textbook you must have.

Covers it all from enzyme kinetics to cancer. i am pleased with the layout in the textbook, it makes topics easy to process, and the diagrams are clearer and more colourful/modern than some other textbooks i have read.

This is a great book with lots of detailed information and diagrams and I would defiantly recommend. My only annoyance is that it has taken Amazon three attempts to deliver me a book that is not damaged. The first was delivered in a wet box and had therefore damaged the book pages, and the second was delivered with the pages of the book not attached to the spine. I am now on my third and would really like this to be my final one, Amazon have been great about it all but it is still a little annoying.

It's a really complete book, with exercises and small summaries throughout the book. The pages are really thin and may tear easily, However, it makes the book thinner.
