Lego continue to update and expand their range of vehicles from the Classic Trilogy with Wedge's Red-3 X-Wing starfighter.
Updating the original 1999 release, this kit is identical to Luke's X-Wing that came in the kit #4503 in 2004. The scale of the ship has been corrected and the colouring now resembles to ship you see on the screen. The X-Wing features and opening cockpit, droid compartment, opening cargo bay underneath, retractable landing gear and a mechanism on the back that allows you to deploy the S-foils into attack position with the turn of a gear. There are even alternate parts for you to adjust the markings on the wings from Wedge's Red-3 to Luke's Red-5. The best thing about this kit is that you get 6 minifigures with it. Updates with the new flesh coloured skin you have Wedge Antilles (X-Wing Pilot), Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot), Han Solo (Hoth), Princess Leia (Hoth), Chewbacca and R2-D2. The kit comprises 434 pieces, not including the figures and takes about 40 minutes to build. An absolute must for any Rebel Fleet and a great kit for both play and display.

Pros: R2D2, Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Generic X-Wing pilot. The x-wing opening mechanism is well designed.
Cons: Very fragile wing construction. The lego bricks come apart very easily especially on the wings. I would recommend (horror!) PVA gluing some of the weaker parts if your child plans to use this as a toy.

A disappointment, At over 72 UKP this product is ridiculously overpriced. Only at around 30 UKP would I rate it as value for money and a good product.
