When I was a kid I had a few bits of Lego that I had to share with my brother and so my creations, were never around long enough for me to really enjoy. I also loved train sets!
So, when I got this LEGO-TRAIN-SET I was so excited and the big kid in me was eager to play.
This is a rather complicated set with around 8 main bags or kits to build from, some of which containing other packs.
It was great fun building each of the many pieces making up this set, even if a little lengthy.
This set takes up quite a bit of floor space, and that's before the track has even been laid.
I'd love to give this set 5 stars but the stickers were crumpled and torn where they were just placed in the bags with no effort to keep them flat. After the amount of money one would spend on this set, you'd think Lego would have gone to a little more effort to make sure that it ALL arrives in excellent condition.

I've been struggling with quite how to review the Lego Cargo Train Set. First off it is 100% quality and looks fantastic when set up. It would be a challenge for anyone in the lower half of the age scale of 6 - 12 and takes a few hours to set up. The instructions are easy to follow.
When you buy Lego you are buying a well made durable toy that will provide hours of fun and can be combined with 100's of other sets as well as added to.
Why did I struggle with the review? I was thinking back to when I was 9 or 10 and know that if I had a choice of a Lego Train Set or a Real Train set I know which one I would choose and it would be a real one. I also think 6 may be pushing it age wise so that leaves a smaller age group in my opinion then the 6 -12 age bracket it quotes on the box. Not that every 9 year old wouldn't want one I just think for the price of a real Train Set (which starts a lot lower) it may be more exciting for the upper half of the age bracket and can be played with into your old age.
To sum this product up it is fantastic. I have to take away one star because of the above paragraph.

It took me, my wife & daughter about 3 hours to put together one Friday evening. We were all engrossed and really enjoyed the challenge. Infuriating at times and the main train can be a bit flimsy if not handled delicately - instructions are fairly easy to follow for young and old alike. My 10 year old daughter mastered the driving of the train far better than me and she loves playing with it (has now asked for more Lego stuff as well. Good old fashioned fun!

lego city 7939 cargo train - a robust and absorbing train set
