Ordered this for my twin boys 5th birthday - they are really into their Lego and already have the Fire Station and numerous other sets.
Although I realised this set was reasonably large, I didn't really appreciate just how big it was until it arrived. The plane, alone, is about 40cm long!!!
We've put the terminal and control tower on a peice of wood together with the Fire Station to create a "little" airport and the boys love it. Some of the parts are a little bit small and fiddly but all three of us had fun putting it together.
The boys love the fact that the roof comes off the plane and has seats inside for about 10 Lego figures - GREAT!!

Another well detailed LEGO City kit. Nothing too scary in the build other than there is so much to build. We've built it from scratch twice now and it is such a good kit. The little touches of detail like coffee machines in the airport and the little computer at the check-in desk give it great play value (there are lots more too). The only little niggle is that the wings are a pre-moulded piece rather than built up from plates as in the LEGO City 3181: Passenger Plane but given the size that was probably the only option. Well worth looking at.

Got this for my Son's 4th Birthday and he has played with it everyday since, he absolutely loves it. I think for the price you pay here on Amazon it's well worth the purchase as you get lots for your money; Airport, Control Tower, Baggage Cart (+4xSuitcases) & Boarding Ladders, 5 Mini Figures (Pilot, Flight Attendant, Steward, Passenger & Service Man) and of course the Plane.
The plane is suprisingly bigger than expected, as we already own the Blue Plane I was expecting similar size but the red plane is bigger, instead of just one seating row on the Blue plane you get 2 seats across and a small aisle. You get room for 10 Passengers in total with a table and a small area for the hostess and in the cockpit 2 seats - 1 for the Pilot and 1 for the co-Pilot/Steward? and 2 side doors for the suitcases to fit in. The roof comes off in 3 sections, cockpit, middle of the plane, back of the plane, they are fairly easy to take off and put back on and my son can do them easily on his own once I showed him how they work.
The Airport itself is really good with the revolving doors, check in desk, x-ray machine for the cases, drinks machine and then 2 areas upstairs one with a coffee vender and the other with 2 seats and a table (although no stairs to get upstairs so my son wonders do they climb up? ;o)
The control tower is a really good addition with a revolving chair so you don't have to dismantle the whole thing to get the lego mini figure in, movable windows and the radar on top can be moved round (by hand) just like the real thing. Nice addition is 3 red flowers for the base.
The Baggage cart and boarding ladder are fab and the ladders reach the door to allow the passengers to board the plane so a great little addition. Also included is a little piece with a computer on, a lampost and whats looks like a tiny fuel pump, doesn't get played with much by my son as he's not too sure what it's for (and to be honest I'm not!) will have to figure out what it's for then we can get some use out of it - maybe a stop off area for the baggage cart?
As my son is a real airport/airplane fan this set is perfect for him everything is a massive 'Pro' for me the only one 'con' is the plane door as my son does struggle with this and it has ended up coming off in his hand many times but it's getting better now he know's how it fully works so Yes I'd definately give this one 5/5 stars!
