I have found that an abacus is a good way to explain how numbers work for my 5 year old. He is very interested in machines & how things work & seems to find learning easier if he can handle things. This little abacus is great as it can be stored away easily & even taken on holiday without taking up too much room.

It was a cheap and flimsy abacus, I didn't expect much for the price but perhaps not something so cheaply made. Any kind of robust childhood play would destroy this and scatter the beads to the four winds,

A lot smaller than I thought it would be but measurements are on show so my fault.
Nice bright colours but Its not going to last long with my 2 children as its very flimsy.
Would advice you to spend a bit more and get a better one.

I nearly typed "fell apart", that would be a little inaccurate (it had some help from little fingers), I'm not sure I'd stretch to "pulled apart" though, it did come apart fairly easily and with seemingly little effort.

The build quality was quite poor. These are very small and quite dainty, which unfortunately doesn't really come across in the images.

I've just noticed the recommended age is "12 years and up", perhaps the problem is that this item is listed in "baby and toddler toys", when it clearly isn't one? (although, I'm not really sure why a 12 year old would want or need one of these! I think it a ruse to get over the poor build quality!).

The mini abacus is what it is. My eight year old thinks its great and it helps him with his maths. More schools should use these. If your child needs help with their maths, purchase one.

It is very lightly built for a kids toy. It came apart before my son even had a chance to put it down. It was too much hassle to return it so I went out and bought some wood glue and got my son involved in fixing it. The joints barely had any evidence of glue on them so I had to take the whole thing apart and rebuild it (this time with glue). It seems to be ok now but I would recommend the Melissa and Doug abacus (he has one of those too) as it is beautifully made though a fair bit bigger.

Chose this item to help my son with his counting while doing maths homework. It has come in handy quite a few times.

This product fell apart after a few minutes gentle handling. The spokes don't appear to have been properly glued into the side, resulting in them easily slipping out and all the beads falling off. Luckily I was on hand when it occurred as the beads could have been a serious choking hazard to child. Absolutely advise against purchasing this and urge the supplier to withdraw this item until it is produced and tested safely.
