I am thrilled to be the first to review James Hoag's "Legends of Rock and Roll: Volume 1. "I have read most all of his unofficial biographies in kindle format and when I saw this hard copy, well... I just had to have it. Hoag truly loves each and every one of the performers he writes about. His laid back, gentle, caring, meticulous, almost self-effacing writing style, his personal comments and naked feelings about the personalities and the times draw the reader into a gentler, more gracious, hopeful era. His sweet saunters down memory lane relate just enough of his personal life in the special ambiance of the fifties and his awe of the well documented achievements of the musicians of the day. He unveils their strengths and accomplishments as well as their humanity. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to relive or discover not only the rock 'n roll greats, but the aura of the nineteen fifties.
