One review for this dvd said that Boxcar Wille was one of the artists and that is why I bought the dvd. Box car Willie is not featured on this DVD. A disappointment. Not the maker's fault but some foolish reviewer. The DVD is OK but no more than that so be careful.

This is truly abysmal. It features extracts from several yearly award ceremonies and it seems that the same artistes win each time. The introductions between songs are over long and unfunny. If you like country in the raw (guitars/steel guitar etc) then forget this.On stage we have a large orchestra and this doesn't lend itself to country music (as I like it).It it the sort of set you play once and then put away in the cupboard.I give it one star because the sound and vision are of acceptable quality.

This country collection holds excerpts from the annual music

city awards between 1978 and 1987 and for that reason displays

mostly the interpreters of the number one songs of those years.

I really enjoyed it especially for those country stars I had

never seen in real life performances. The fact there's not

anything by Johnny Cash (as one reviewer claimed about) is

quite logical because he didn't have any # 1, 2 or # 3 hits during

those years. I don't think that's reason enough to classify this

DVD with only 1 star. This collection also served to find out

about some songs never heard before especially one song above

all the rest that made me buy a CD where it's on: Old Dogs,

Children and Watermelon Wine by Tom T. Hall. One of the nicest

songs I have ever heard in my life.

The quality and the sound are marvelous bearing in mind that

these are at least from 20-25 years ago. If you like the real

nice C&W music from the 70's and 80's this DVD set is a must!

Dont know why some rated tthis so low, its brilliant for people who are original country fans, ie: from 30`s 40`s 50`s 60`s, whilst Cash and waylon, and willie may not be on here, we have tillis, twitty , gatlin bros and statlers, many who back the others on tour, its a good cross section original and not so modern songs, well worth the money

As a new release, I found 'Legends of Country' to be disappointing to say the least.
Not one song from the 'King of Country', Johnny Cash, nothing from Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings etc. etc.
If you want to watch 'fair' performances from country stars who played the 'Grand Ole Oprey' over 20 years ago, then this 3 DVD pack is for you. If not, then despite it being cheap, forget it. 'Cheap and nasty' springs to mind in my opinion.
