By Mr. D TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
This review is for: Legends Odyssey
Odyssey are simply awesome. You think they're good and then when you listen to them they are so much better than you remember. This is a truly unbeatable collection featuring 41 tracks covering all the singles and key album tracks (virtually everything Odyssey ever recorded is here!). A lot of the tracks are included in their full 12"/album versions such as "Use It Up And Wear It out", "Inside Out", "Native New Yorker", "If You're Looking For A Way Out", and "Going Back To My Roots". The 12" B-Side "Roots Suite" from the album version is also included, so you get the full 10 minutes of Ajamora/Going Back To My Roots/Bawa Awa which is truly stunning. "Magic Touch" is here in both the 7" & 12" versions. The only tracks missing of any note are the 12" version of "Don't Tell Me, Tell Her" (which is now available on Hang Together) and the 7" version of "Native New Yorker" with the saxophone intro (although that is obtainable on Disco Fever or Pure... 70's Dance Party). There is one error on this collection and that is concerning a mix-up between two tracks with similar titles. Odyssey recorded one track called "Together" and another called "Happy Together". On disc 3, track 9 is listed as "Happy Together" but it actually plays "Together" instead. But for me this is a blessing, because "Happy Together" is a dreadful cover version of the old 60's hit by The Turtles. Although, if you like it, you'll be sad to find it missing. To me this is an essential purchase and one I would highly recommend, especially at the current bargain price of £10.69 for 3 CD's.

i bought this collection knowing this group very well i owned the album happy together for many years after buying another collection containing tracks i didn't have i found a major era on cd 3 happy together is listed but this is actually a song called together the track happy together is a cover this track is therefore wrongly billed happy together is over 7 minutes long and together is 6.18 long so please beware that even well known record companies can make mistakes.Legends

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing some 12" mixes & remixes 18 April 2011
Format:Audio CD
Where is the 12" mix of "Don't Tell Me, Tell Her"? I'm also missing some other remixes of their hits fresh taken with actual A/D converters from the original master tapes. The (re)masterings are ok for the most tracks (specially the hits) - some are clipping but not destroyed as on so many other CDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Collection from Impressive Group 28 Dec 2005
By Malridge Mace, IV - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I will keep this review short and sweet: If you want to get nearly every song this great group has made, purchase this cd set. With the exception of just three tracks, every song from their five RCA lps is included, most in their full-length version and many appearing on CD for the first time anywhere. As a bonus it also includes rare 12-inch mixes of "Use It Up, Wear It Out" and "Magic Touch"

A minor correction, though: The box lists on cd #3 the track "Happy Together" (title track from their final lp) It is in reality the track "Together" -- a totally different song, also found on their last lp. Unfortunately, "Happy Together" - the remake of the Turtle's 60's song and a great lp track, is not included in this compilation. However, still worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars An oldie but goodie 23 Aug 2010
By Alric Earle Beach - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I first heard "Golden Hands" many years ago in my childhood. At that time I did not even know the title of the song nor the name of the group singing it but I loved it. Another favourite is "Thank you God for one more Day". Recently I started to search the Web to find these two (2) songs. I was successful after searching the Amazon music catalog, I would have found the Legend CDs earlier if were able to listen to thirty (30) second samples of more of the songs on a particular CD. I suspect I am not the only person who has the problem of trying to find a song without knowing the exact title, when this is the case one has to do it by ear, listen to a sample of the song. The effort was thoroughly worth it as I have played the "Golden Hands" song many times since I received the CD, it is an oldie but goodie !
