Alanna Knight was born on Tyneside, of Scots-Irish parentage. Her first award-winning novel 'Legend of the Loch' was published in 1969 and she has now totalled seventy. In an impressive writing career spanning over forty years she began with historical novels and in 1988 launched into historical crime with:
1. Victorian Inspector Faro; 2. his daughter Rose McQuinn, are available as e-books.

Alanna lives in Edinburgh, in the dramatic surroundings of Scottish history. Founding member and Honorary President of the Scottish Association of Writers and Edinburgh Writers' Club and member of Crime writers' Association, she enjoys research for her books, loves travelling, walking, painting and talking to readers in libraries. Her books, also in large print and audio rate amongst 'most borrowed'.
