engaging romance 8 Jun 2002
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
The world becomes excited when the media reports that the plane that crashed containing 1930s sex goddess Lacy Black had finally been found in the California Mountains. However, not long afterward the shocking news is that the woman once considered a rival Jean Harlow back in the thirties is not the female corpse found in the wreckage. Media giants like Dan Rather wonder who is the female who died in that early 1940s crash and what happened to Lacy.
engaging romance The story of Lacy begins in 1937 Snyder, Texas when the car of Hollywood shaker Mark Damien breaks down, which enables him to meet teenage Lucinda Blackburn. He rescues her from an abusive father, renames her Lacy, manipulates her into becoming a legend, and marries her. Eventually she tires of his cheating ways and decides to leave her Svengali. However, he sabotages her plane, leaving the world and Mark to believe Lacy Black is dead. Yet six decades later, law enforcement proves that Lacy was not in the fatal plane crash so what really happened to her?

Though an entertaining tale, THE LEGEND OF LACY BLACK could have been the legend of Tory Houston as the story contains the essence of a great novel. However, instead, the plot twists back to an engaging romance rather than an incredible romantic Hollywood mystery that E would have highlighted. Still Lacy, regardless of her moniker, is an enticing lead character and the men in her life provide further insight into why she vanished at the height of her fame. In all a strong tale, but a could have been a classic.

COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! 10 Jun 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Lacy Black is a beautiful movie star in 1930s Hollywood, worshipped by millions. Only those closest to her know the secret sadness in her life, and one of them wants her dead!
I laughed, I cried, I didn't want the story to end. If anyone from modern-day Hollywood is reading this review, it would make a great mini-series.
I will re-read this often until the next Tory Houston epic is published.

I really enjoyed this book! The cover is fantastic and so is the story. It reminds me of the early Harold Robbins books I read years ago. Definitely a page turner!

I HAVE NEVER READ A BOOK LIKE THIS ONE. HOLLYWOOD, WHEN IT WAS HOLLYWOOD. THREE MEN LOVE AND SHAPE LACY BLACK'S LIFE. ONE IS EVIL, THE OTHER TWO HELPED HER GROW. WE SEE HER GOING FROM A POOR TEXAS COUNTRY GIRL TO THE MOST FAMOUS WOMAN IN THE WORLD. THE BOOK TAKES YOU FROM 1930 TO MODERN DAY AND IT'S ACTION PACKED. YOU WILL BURN THE MIDNIGHT OIL ON THIS ONE AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN UNTIL IT'S FINISHED. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ THIS BOOK.

The story of a lifetime!!!! 31 July 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I loved this book. There is something always so fascinating about reading someone's whole life story, whether that happens to be fiction or even non-fiction. Within the first couple of chapters you start to feel like you know Lacy. The characters become so life like. This book made me laugh, gringe, and cry. You definitely can't beat that!!! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great story that travels.
