Product Description

Product Description

Brahma, the creator, is unhappy with the world he has created and sends Vishnu, the preserver, to the new world to set it right. Taking the form of a fish, Vishnu finds the man who can help him start afresh, and re-create a living world. Readers of this archaic myth of flood and resurrection will recognise parallels in other cultures. The intense and intricate art in this handmade book captures the cosmic sweep of the classic story. Each etching is screen-printed in fine silver ink on dark blue paper.

About the Author

Gita Wolf has written more than 14 books for children and adults. Considered one of the most original and creative voices in contemporary Indian publishing, she has pursued her interest in exploring and experimenting with the form of the book and its status as a revered cultural object. Several of her children's books have won major international awards.

Originally from Italy, Emanuele Scanziani is an artist and freelance illustrator who lives and works from Auroville, an international commune in South India.
