Sherwood Comes To Life, 22 July 2002
By A Customer
For those who were young in the 1980s, this collection will find a special place, for it was one of the albums to have back then as it contained the music that accompanied the hit TV series, Robin Of Sherwood.
To a newer generation, the music will come across as breathingkly simple, yet beautiful, being a nice blend of traditional and modern cues skilfully mixed into memorable pieces. One does not need to have watched any of the Robin episodes to get to appreciate the stunningly melodic arrangements, or the hauntingly sweet voices accompanying them.
The only fault is that the pieces are way too short, the total album running only to slightly over half an hour.
The Robin theme is a classic case of how to turn an economy of words into a really big hit - just four words, "Robin, the hooded man" propelled this album to a platinum seller!
The support pieces aren't bad either, conjuring up mental images of forests, pagan gods, maidens in distress, men in anger, fierce battles, or giving an impression of life in ancient times.
The pieces are still proving popular today, as Clannad still plays them at their concerts, and with the recent release of Robin Of Sherwood on DVD, this album could have yet another lease on life.

A fantastic buy!, 18 Mar 2002
This is the soundtrack to my childhood and I just LOVE it! It brings back such memories for me, and I just feel transported each time I listen to it. If you have never seen the TV series, then you might not understand the significance of the lyrics, but you will definately be affected by the atmospheric melodies and Maire's amazing voice. A perfectly encapsulated piece of Celtic Heaven!

Clannad Legend, 29 Aug 2011
Legend, by Clannad, is a 1984 album that is the soundtrack for the television series Robin of Sherwood.
It is a great album with some haunting themes and songs as well as beautiful moments of instrumentation. The whole album has a very good atmosphere.
The album won the BAFTA award for best original television music/
"Robin the hooded man" the title theme was released as a single both in 1984 with series one and again in 1986. with series three Also the tracks , "Now Is Here" and "Scarlet Inside" were released as singles in their own right.
It is a good album despite the fact that not all of the music for the TV series is included.
