Amazon.co.uk Review

Robert Redford, usually a pretty good judge of material, got snookered badly in Legal Eagles, an Ivan Reitman comedy which also stars Debra Winger and Daryl Hannah. Redford is a rising assistant D.A. who is prosecuting a woman (Hannah) for theft of a painting by her father. Before he knows what's hit him, he's involved romantically both with the defendant and with her scattered lawyer (Winger). Redford is as good as he can be, given the circumstances but this is a film that doesn't know where it's going. Originally intended as a serious film about the legal wrangling over the estate of the late Mark Rothko, this film quickly degenerated when the script was turned over to Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr, whose sparkling oeuvre includes Turner and Hooch. --Marshall Fine, Amazon.com

First of all. I like this movie very much, but...

I was a little disappointed to see that the screenFormat wasn't "Anamorphic (2.35:1), Full Screen" but "Anamorphic (4:3), Closed Screen". In other words. The hight of the picture is corresponding to aspect ratio 2.35:1, and the width to aspect ratio 4:3. So, the given information about the Aspect Ratio 1.85:1 (that means full wide-screen TV picture) is not true. This movie deserves better/full screen.

Greetings from the Netherlands

This movie is one of my long-time favourites. Although the storyline is not very easy to follow at some points, the acting of Redford and Winger are excellent. Watch out especially for the looks and the quick remarks they make! Another character worth mentioning is the daughter of Logan (Redford) - a witty teenager who sees things from the most hopeful point of view. And if you have a keen eye for subtleties that show the human side of these lawyers (especially the "can't sleep", the tap-dancing and the kitchen scenes), you are bound to smile and laugh a lot on this movie.

Classic! 13 Nov 2011

This is a great film! The comedic parts are great, and Redford and Winger get on great on screen!

Hannah's character, however, is a bit more annoying and the story ending rather silly.

Nevertheless, a great movie to watch!
