Diane Paul is an editorial consultant and writer. She tutors writing students on correspondence courses for the Open College of the Arts and Writers' News. Originally a PR consultant, she became a full-time journalist in the 1980s, eventually freelancing and editing a showbusiness magazine and a newspaper theatre page. She launched and wrote the women's pages for two weekly newspaper groups and contributed features to 'The Guardian', 'The Sunday Times', 'The Daily Telegraph' and dozens of other national publications. Diane has written three books, the second of which, 'The Left-hander's Handbook' (pub. Robinswood Press) has won two book awards from the British Medical Association. She helps writers to improve their manuscripts at her consultancy, Keyword Editorial (www.keywordeditorial.com) and many writers she's tutored are now in print themselves. She studied for her Master's degree in scriptwriting at Salford University and tutors on a scriptwriting course. Diane's most recent play, 'A Bench in the Park' was showcased in London and produced for radio. Diane writes a popular book blog at http://bookblogforbookworms.blogspot.com
She also teaches people to play the piano, (www.manchesterpianotutor.co.uk) something she's been doing herself since she was 5. 'It was always a tossup between teaching piano and writing, so I decided to do both and I'm now working on possible workshops where I can combine the two,' she says.
