Product Description

As a member of Blue, Lee Ryan was a part of one of the biggest acts of his era. His solo debut single "Army of Lovers" is a good signpost towards the stripped-back sound of his first self-titled album. Eschewing easy US RnB references for more classic soul influences from Marvin Gaye, Maxwell and Luther Vandross, and mingling this with acoustic instrumentation has produced a strong, unique sound that you can instantly imagine yourself humming along to on MTV or the radio. Accessible pop values are used to great effect, his elegant but candid delivery takes the material straight to the heart.

I have never been a Blue fan, in fact I'd go as far to say I dislike them. My Mother (yes, I have a trendy mum) bought me this album as a pressie god only knows why. I put it on in the car during a long journey to pass the time...... WOW!!!! This man is SERIOUSLY talented, he has the most beautiful voice I have heard in a long time. His songs are extremely catchy, there is not one song I dislike (I didn't feel the urge to fast forward once). This album is now played at my house more often than not, even by my husband who is a Motley Crue fan!! Give it a listen, you'll have a nice surprise too. Well done Lee, you have a new fan.

I never bothered with Blue, I thought "One Love" was ok, but this man has one of the most remarkable and beautiful voices I've ever heard. I can't believe the critics are not raving about this, I mean forget Coldplay, THIS is THE album of the year...I love Coldplay but this is absolutely unbelievable. The songs are nothing short of sensational, "Army Of Lovers" is catchy and soulful, "Jump" is more rock; but the song that really is off this planet is "In The Morning". Lee could become one of the world's leading artists if he got the attention. How often do you get a voice like that?
Magnificent.

This album doesn't have a bad song on it, especially Army of Lovers and Turn your Car around and I am really suprised the chart positions haven't been more favourable.....Lee should rally be the new George Michael....his songwriting talent demonstrated on the last few songs of the album are equal to anything George did in his early days and Lee has one of the greatest white soul voice's this country has produced - I hope his record company realises what a talent they have and not jusst drop him when he doesn't make the top ten.......
I want to hear his voice again and again.....it's like melted chocolate
Buy this album and show your support - you wont be disappointed.

Finally! I have always believed that it was Lee's voice that made Blue stand out from the other boygroups. Most of the songs on his album are great, but I'm hoping he will do duets later.
My absolute favorite song from the album is In the Morning. It conveys the richness and beauty of Lee's voice best. However, from the very first moment I heard the song, it reminded me of something else. And then I got it: Just One Life, the 11th song from the first solo album, Back to the Light by Brian May (from Queen). Brian being my fav artist, it is a big compliment to Lee.

Although I was a Blue fan, I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this album when it was first released. I love it and I have lost count of the number of times I have played it. It covers such a wide genre of music. Something to cover all tastes and moods.
Favourite tracks are the hauntingly beatiful self penned "In the Morning" and "How do I?"
Let's hope that this is the first of many albums from this extremely talented young man.
I would urge anyone to buy this album.

What a suprise! The album is an fantastic mix for ballads, new york sounding soul and of course the odd very poppy song. I have to say 'How do i' is a beautiful song and brings a tear to my eye! The album is great for the young, the gettin there and the old! It is truly amazing. Lee Ryan is a very talented young man and i wish him all the luck in the world!

A good album. An amazing singer! personally i didn;t think it's as good as Simon Webbe's debut album. Simon's is just a bit lighter and the songs are a bit more catchy! "After All This Time" on Simon's album or "Parking" on Lee's? I can't decide but they are both albums i would recommend. Granted "Parking" is a great song, and who can fault Lee's songwriting after "Breathe Easy" with Blue? AMERICA - LEE IS READY FOR YOU! TAKE NOTE!

Although Blue was a very successful boyband, I approached this album with caution for the simple reason that debut albums from musicians making the transition from group member to solo artist usually lack anything great. However after listening to the first few songs I realised that Lee Ryan's self-titled album had had a lot of work done to make sure it broke the mould of his predecessors, and boy did it pay off.

Leaving his 'pop' roots from Blue far behind him, Lee Ryan has developed a new soulful sound which enhances the emotion of the songs and his voice. 'Lee Ryan' is a love-song-heavy album which is slightly disappointing as I was looking forward to hearing Lee's traditional Blue-voice from songs such as 'Guilty' and 'Breathe Easy' but nevertheless this album is still full of great songs; 'Army of Lovers', 'Parking', 'In The Morning', accompanied by Lee Ryan's relaxing voice. A definite chill-out album, I just hope he sticks with this sound as it suits his voice perfectly.
