"Concise presentation of each topic with a very readable and easy to browse text on the core material, supplemented by well illustrated tables and diagrams. It maintains clarity throughout, presenting the most fundamental principles in a note form with clear management guidelines...a useful introductory and/or revision book. It′s small size makes it easy to carry around on the wards for a quick reference."

Cambridge Medicine, Addenbrooke′s Clinical School Gazette

Format: Paperback
Continuing in the success of the "Lecture notes in..." series, this text provides a good basis in both pre-clinical and clinical study, especially the foormat of PBL (Problem Based Learning) adopted by a growing number of UK Medical Schools.
Although a combination book, it is split into the two original composite texts inside, the first half dedicated to Obstetrics and the latter half, Gynaecology. This helps the reader differentiate into the two sub-specialties, although the text uses cross references where appropriate.
Key facts/points are well marked, assisting in the retention of knowledge, while adequate, appropriate tables are also used.
As a text for all levels (including Junior doctors)this book always works from first principles, and helps the reader integrate the underlying clinical science (including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, immunology and biochemistry).
Compared to the other popular Obs and Gynae texts on the market, this one has the advantage of its comparably cheap price and combination approach, ensuring that basic principles are underlined just the once.

This book is interesting to read but if you are a member of the medical profession you may find it a bit too simple. I was expecting a lecture note for professionals but this is not it.

Nice and simple book, really good read for a medical student. Pretty up to date stuff but not written to be too complex
