I was nearly put off by some other reviewers who complained that this item is not real leather. Well, I do not know much about leather but this feels like it. It smells like it too. This is very well built. I would not expect the top of range leather grade in this market segment. I highly recommend this product.
Maybe and that is maybe, the brown version of this product feels less like leather ? I purchased the black case.
Some reviewers also wrote that there are 3 pieces and I do not understand why, there are obviously 2 pieces that clip with each other. Again there is nothing wrong. This is most likely the best case you can buy for a GF1. The only restriction is that you can only fit one lens, the 20 mm pancake.

This is definitely a three star item. The trouble is that the official Panasonic case is exorbitantly expensive, though it sounds very good. This is a case for the less affluent. It must be said that it does its main job of protecting the camera perfectly well. But it is a bit clunky, a bit heavy, and the main problem is that when it is opened to use the camera, it is held only by two press-button fastenings and I am always afraid they'll come astray, so I tend to take the outer case off and put it in my bag when I'm actually taking photos.
So it is three star. If you can afford the Panasonic case, do go and buy it. But if you are feeling less affluent having bought the camera, this case does the job of protection perfectly adequately.
