Book Description

Dec 2000
Dear Reader,

In my Brides Trilogy, three unconventional young women vow never to marry, only-one by one-to be overtaken by destiny.  Scholarly Olivia is most certainly The Least Likely Bride--

One moment Lady Olivia Granville is strolling along a path, her nose buried in a tome of Greek philosophy; the next she is plunging down a rocky cliff. When she regains consciousness, she is naked and unwittingly trapped on a pirate ship.  Her captor, though, is no ordinary pirate.  Wickedly handsome, disturbingly mysterious, the grey-eyed master of the Wind Dancer is both a physician and an artist, and admits to making his living from the sea.

Most disconcerting of all, when he turns his glittering eyes on her, he sees not the stammering, hopelessly bookish young girl Olivia has always been, but a passionate, beautiful woman who can, if she chooses, embark on the adventure and the love of a lifetime.

I invite you to share in Olivia's passionate, enchanting adventure.

Warmest wishes,
(signed)Jane Feather

P.S. For Portia's story, be sure to read The Hostage Bride, and you will catch Phoebe's story in The Accidental Bride.  And look for my next novel, The Window's Kiss, in early 2001-- in which my heroine has been widowed not less than four times!

5.0 out of 5 stars unconventional and strong 7 Jan 2002
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have read this book three times (as i tend to do with every book that I really like) and I still adore it. Anthony (our swashbuckling hero)and Olivia (the sweet maiden heroine) were stunning to follow and not once did I feel any need to grab them by the scruff of their necks and shake solid sense into them.

The novel is fast paced and it draws on history without becoming too restricted or limited by fact. I liked that their story wasn't too conventional and that it didn't follow any real formula (other than boy gets girl), I liked that Olivia could think for herself and I liked that Anthony was not overpowering. The characters make this story and they transcend the plot.

But of course it also has what ever true romance should have. Great love, great sex and great writing...what more could a girl ask for?

1.0 out of 5 stars The least credible romance 1 Sep 2003
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Olivia, the daughter of Cato Granville, is woolgathering one day, steps off the edge of a cliff and is knocked unconscious. She is rescued by a pirate ship and, once she recovers, the pirate captain climbs into her bed and just casually has sex with her. Riiiight. Okay. And she decides that she wants to see him again?!

So then once he has her taken home, she sneaks out of her father's house to meet him again. And even when she realises that he has to be part of a plot to work against her father's political agenda, she stays quiet and doesn't tell Cato what's going on. Even though she knows that Anthony is a pirate.

I'm sorry; I just didn't see any romance in here, and I didn't even like the 'hero'. And as for the ending, what kind of thing is that? I kept waiting for him to renounce his lawless life, but no; he continues to be a pirate, and Cato lets Phoebe go to him instead of having him handed over to the police and hanged. And they don't even get married!

Terrible.
