This is a must have book for any Cellist who is Grade IV / V+ standard...

Has some lovely exercises and a clear comparrison between bass clef and tenor clef notation.

It has a scales, exercises and then a tune in the same key and uses a combination of bass and tenor clef.

It is a great book for learning and consolodating tenor clef reading. Beautifully laid out - clear and well spaced notation and accompaning piano part to enable the pieces to come to life!

Really recommend it for cellists and for anyone who needs to get to grips with the tenor clef.

Many of the tunes are included in both Trinity and Associated Board examinations... a really good investment.

Best book I've found on learning tenor clef 29 Oct. 2011
By Alma - Published on Amazon.com
After going thru a Rick Mooney book, I needed something that would pound tenor clef into my thick skull; this book is doing it! Each section is based on a major or minor scale. The book's sections progress to three sharps and three flats; that covers all the 'black keys.' Each section has a scale to start, then a little etude, and then a real piece in tenor clef in the same key. The fingering is provided so you know where to go. I am baffled that the previous reviewer could not make heards or tails of the book, which is very thoughtfully designed. Many of the exercises alternate between bass clef and tenor clef, so the player gets used to switching staffs. I think this little book is worth it at twice the price; I jsut wish that it was a bit longer!

My cello instructor suggested I get this book. The format is easy to study and has helped me a great deal. Highly recommend this book for intermediate students of cello.

Not sure who this book is aimed at. 18 May 2010

This is the second book I've reviewed which is 'supposed' to teach you tenor clef. It does nothing of the sort. The book gives you absolutely no background information on the clef, nor does it show you where the notes are, or any sort of guidance. There is not ONE word of explanation or diagram in the entire book. This book is definitely not for the beginning student. I've been playing for 2 years and I can't make heads or tales of this book. The title of this book is "Learning the Tenor Clef", which is not truly misleading as long as you recognize that you'll need to be taught how to read/utilize the tenor clef by some other means. I am disappointed with this book.
