An interesting story, told in a level of German that isn't too basic or simplistic, but doesn't require complete literacy in the language. The stated level of "intermediate to advanced" is pretty accurate. I'll be looking for more, perhaps slightly more advanced works!

This is a great series for intermediate to advanced learners. To be honest, you could read it with less German knowledge, but you'd probably need a dictionary on hand. It is great including day to day German phrases (the things that you struggle to hear if you don't go to Germany and hear German speakers or watch any German TV) and has a short list if German translations at the end of each chapter. I read the kindle version and the only thing I find a little difficult is having to scroll to the end of the chapter to look up the phrases (if I was reading a paperback, I'd just keep my finger in the page, but you can't do that on a kindle (yet). That's just the way that they are published on the kindle at the moment though, which is a literal e-version of the book and I would think that Kindle will eventually improve this. You can get a German kindle dictionary, but they don't tend to translate the idioms and common phrases that this book is so good at including.

The stories are quite short which I like as it gives a feeling of achieving progress as you can get through each book quite quickly. They are reasonably funny too, but aren't likely to win too many literary awards.

A fantastic way to expand your German language skills though.

I have all three of this series, and they're all worthwhile. They have improved my colloquial German and they're fun to read too.

The story held my interest and made the learning experience enjoyable. The suggested use of the book in conjunction with a dictionary made the learning process swift and enjoyable.

Think it would be very helpful if the article were given before each noun in the vocabulary at the end of each chapter. When learning German vocabulary one is told to learn the correct article with each noun because in some cases a change of article means something different.
