My son is obsessed with all things Chuggington, and has most of the toys. So for his 2nd birthday I bought him this,Learning Curve Chuggington Interactive All Around Chuggington Set from Toysrus for £39.00 (rrp £59.00). To be honest I'm not impressed with the quality of the product. Fair enough the trains talk to each other and interact with the buildings and that is fine, irritating after a while, but fine. The gripe is with the stability of the actual track, the pieces don't clip together very well and are easily destroyed by an over enthusiastic 2 yr old. the pillars which are meant to support the track on it's raised parts don't fit properly to the track, and the track falls down. Another thing is when you play with the trains on the track and send them down the sloped section, just before it falls apart, the trains don't stay on the track and fly over the edge. The buildings dont connect to the track properly, in particular the crane attachment is meant to clip onto the side of the track, but it doesn't Basically I just feel the quality isn't worth the rrp of £59.00 more £14.99. In summary, the product feels cheap, flimsy and doesn't live up to it's rrp...
Avoid this product and choose something else, but at the end of the day this is just my own personal opinion...

On a possitive note my 3 year old granddaughter loves this train set. Having seen the TV series she loves to dance to the song and copy the sounds they make. She immediately recognised the individual engines and VERY quickly learn to press the button on top to make them speak. She loves to send them down the slopes all at once and for the majority of the time the engines do stay on the track but the flatter the surface you have, the more luck you will have. Carpeted floor will not be good enough. I use a large piece of hardboard as a base.
I've just purchased the tunnel and bridge set as she has just learnt what both are and gets very excited when she sees them go through the tunnel on the TV. I've read other reviews here that are having problems of interaction, which I am not experiencing. Don't know if it has anything to do with it, but the switch underneath each engine has three positions. If you pick it up and have the front of the engine facing outwards (away from your body) the postion to the far right is for 'interaction', the middle position is 'off' and the left position is 'demo' for in store use. In demo position the engines do not interact but you can push the button on top to make them speak. So if you leave it in the demo position (as you purchased it) then there will be no interaction - just a thought that this may be the problem some are experiencing? I have also read about people being disappointed that you have to buy more engines to create more interaction between them, which I am a little puzzled by. Obviously the more engines and extras you buy then the more interaction you will get, which makes sense and is not a problem as far as I am concerned. For example if you buy say, a Wilson engine, and it starts speaking/referring to a Harrison engine that you haven't got, then it would be somewhat confusing to the child.
Overall I am generally pleased with the product but on a critic note I would say Learning Curve should give out more of the long curve barriers in order to stop engines coming off the rail, plus the track is flimsy (no where near as sturdy as the Thomas Trackmaster) and therefore more suited to the older child - maybe 4 upwards, the supports should have be more 'supportive' and some of the attachments they you can buy as accessories do not line up very well on the track - eg repair shed and crane. I originally gave it a 5 star but after extra purchases I have down-graded it to a four. If you decide to purchase look for a reduced set - don't pay full price. Granddaughter (and now grandson) still love it though but I think they will get more use out of it as they get older and are less heavy-handed.

The trains are smart and durable. The stops (recycling yard, engine shed, etc) are good, and talk to / interact with the trains. All good so far.
The track is flimsy cheap rubbish, which goes uphill in a sprial supported by plastic legs. It breaks every 5 minutes. My son has bnever had such a high maintenance toy. If he wasn't so attached to the characters the track would be in the bin.

the trains work on the Brio / Ikea / tesco etc wooden tracks. Just buy the trains and don't waste your money on the interactive track, at least not until they have made it out of something more robust. .
