The information for this book is misleading... it's intended for Indian businessmen visiting Nepal. If you don't know Hindi, it's hard work, although it is in English too. It does have a useful section showing you how to write the characters, unlike the below.
The "Teach Yourself Nepali" Book by Hutt/Subedi is better, but starts off rather quickly for most people and is intended for written communications.
