Book Description

19 July 2013
Finally, a fun and easy way to learn REAL conversational Japanese! This is for beginners to upper beginners of Japanese. The dialogues found in this book are all about context and how Japanese is actually used while at a restaurant. The MP3s are all recorded by native voice actors and actresses. INCLUDES FREE MP3s found in a download link on the last page. The book itself contains the dialogues with the English translation, but it also adds cultural or grammatical notes to help you understand the dialogue in context. Each and every dialogue is broken down to make it understandable for even those new to Japanese. After each sentence, a literal translation is provided. That is followed by a full list of every vocabulary word found within that sentence. Contents: Dialogue 1: Making Reservations Dialogue 2: Getting a Table for a Friend Dialogue 3: Meeting Sally Late Dialogue 4: Ordering Dialogue 5: Waiting for Food Dialogue 6: Udon Dialogue 7: New Year and Soba Dialogue 8: At a Donut Shop

The book had downloads for MP3's and the e-book versions as well. The paper book is great. It has the full text in Japanese for you to work with and learn and then it has the romanji over the English translation for each sentence, interesting items, and a section of vocabulary that looks at all of the major parts of the sentence. After that it starts the next section off with a full text in Japanese and then repeats the pattern. There are 8 sections in the book. The nice thing about this layout is that it challenges you with the full Japanese text, but makes looking up the stuff you don’t know easy and through. I had a problem with the web site for the e-book, but when I sent an e-mail for assistance, the author responded promptly and took care of the problem; he seemed honestly interested in making sure I got the most out of his book that I could in my efforts to learn Japanese. I highly recommend this book and look forward to getting more of these books by Clay Boutwell.
