I would recommend getting the Camera and Video Recorder for the Leapster Recorder as it really does add another dimension to game play. Plus it means we don't have to keep on sharing our camera with a 3.5 year old and having to say 'No' a lot. It's very easy to use allowing the user to take photos and make video recordings. Both can edited for humorous results and the photos can be used in learning activities included as part of the software. . We've been able to use our walks, visit to the park, searching around the house etc. to find various items to photograph and include in stories. It's also fun to have your picture inserted in a story. Additionally, you can upload via the pc to Leapster Connect to print photos and more. Try it and find out, you won't be disappointed in a camera that also provides learning tools.

As well as selling this product we also use it at home (well we do when the kids let us ;-)
The camera and video camera is a nice little addition to your Explorer making it an all round educational gadget for kids and reducing the need for a separate camera.
Importantly for our kids you can customise photos, which they seem to enjoy more than taking the pics. Plus if you link up to your PC you can print them out too.
Another nice feature is using your photos in mini games (such as your own jigsaws) so the kids can enjoy their own pics further.
Similarly with the video camera feature you can do things like making your own pop video. It's amazing to see so many features in such a tiny accessory, it does the same as a much bigger top branded video camera whch is 4 times the cost. Of course it depends on you already having an Explorer but if you do this is an accessory not to be missed.
You can also download different apps from the Leapfrog website (these usually cost extra) to add even more content and actions to your camera.
Pros:
- good price
- easy to use
- small, so doesn't make your Explorer much bigger in size or weight
- great fun
- does what a lot of the bigger kids cameras do at a 1/4 of the cost and size
Cons:
- packaging is way bigger than it needs to be, which is wasteful
- it currently only comes in green (though the green is limited to thumb grip, and bit around the lens, could easily be customised with stickers if you wanted to)
- you do need to connect it to a PC for some of the features such as prinitng out your pics, though this is true of most kids digital cameras

My daughter was bought the explorer for Christmas by her Grandparents, her friend has the leap pad which has a built in camera so my daughter was jealous hers did not have a camera or video so my husband found this on line. It is a fantastic addition, she can now make her own videos and has her own album of photos. She can also make drawings and puzzles with the photos she has taken. Well worth a tenner.

This is a great gift. My daughter does not need to carry her explorer plus a camera to take photos. She just attaches this camera attachment and the camera or video is installed.
