Product Description

Product Description

After he called his mother on a cold, blustery Sunday morning, Mitch Lucas could sense something wrong. Her weak, frail voice telling him not to visit because she was sick seemed different. This quirk of fate is what made Mitch walk into his favorite coffee shop on a Sunday instead of a Saturday. There, he meets the people that influence the rest of his life. A gardener, real estate agent, an old soldier and a strange lady with a red umbrella share their unique stories with Mitch. Why? Because he listened.

Leap year at the coffee shop is about life, death and the triumphs and tragedies in between that bind us all together. On February 29th in a leap year, at his favorite coffee shop, on one fateful day, Mitch Lucas realizes his destiny. Something he had always known but never understood until the people he met became his friends, if only for one day. –The Publisher

EXCERPT

Mitch sat back in his chair and took a long slow look around the coffee shop. Every person at each table was engaged in conversation. Hand gestures with facial expressions to emphasize key elements of story. How could people be so engrossed in their own narrative and yet oblivious to their surroundings? He looked around at the nameless faces and recognized someone sitting at a booth away from the crowd—in the darkest corner. No paper, no coffee, just sitting there looking out the window.

An interseting read 17 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was rather unusual and held my interest well. It does make you wonder about all the people you would see in a coffee shop on any one day and what their individual stories may be. It was quite a tense book, loaded with atmosphere and I fund it quite an intersting read. For a free download I was quite impressed.

A Leap Year at The Coffee Shop 23 Mar 2011
By Rachel Loren - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The book is a great story for a lifetime. The stories have been hunting me since I read it a month ago.

This is a story about families and friends. If you wonder why unfortunate things happen to your family, then you will want to know what Mitch saw on this particular Leap Year day. Sometimes, we just explain things as "Everything happens for a reason" when sad things happen. But beyond that, we should also think how we can make life meaningful like what Michael Eads says at the end of this book.

Michael Eads is a great story teller. I like his book-A Man's Feelings, and I like this book even more.

Read this! You will find yourself in many ways. Next time you are around people, you will feel the infinity that brings us together as caring humans. It helps to dissolve the cold walls we put up between people we've never made time to converse with, or to find the humanity within them.

The Destiny of Us All 31 July 2011
By Runestone - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
In his book: Leap Year at the Coffee Shop, Michael Eads takes the reader on a strange odyssey. By visiting his favorite coffee shop on a Sunday instead of a Saturday, the main character, Mitch Lucas meets different people with compelling stories about life and death. Is it a coincidence or is it fate? The characters are woven into this book brilliantly as they share their heroic (and sometimes) horrific life experiences. All the while a red clock keeps time and eventually becomes a reliable friend to Mitch. The fact this happens on a leap day seems insignificant except for the reasons why some of the characters in this book are there on February 29th. I can't go into that much more without giving away the poignant ending. To me, this book is not just about one man's destiny, but the destiny of us all. I highly recommend this unique and life changing book.
