Most of us who are regular church goers have suffered intercessions that are as one of my parish described it 'streams of consciousness', or sometimes 'alternative sermons'. This booklet is ideal to give to anyone leading prayers in church. It is short, practical and if followed will avoid the gross mistakes that turn some acts of worship into a nightmare.

Doug Chaplin's working knowledge of the Bible is vast and he is an accomplished tutor. He has the knack to put across the relevance of our faith in contemporary situations and this guide is just one example of his skill in producing a concise and practical guide.
I commend it to those starting and also to those of us who need reminding of the basics and what a privilege it is to offer intercessions on behalf of others!

This is an excellent book which I will use a lot in my ministry as a licensed Reader ( Lay Reader ) in the Church of England. It is practical, clear, straightforward and succint. I will find it very valuable in training others to lead intercessions. Its simple style and accessible language make it an excellent teaching tool, in contrast to the much wordier and complex books of this type on offer.I heartily recommend it for use oneself or with others. Its very affordable price is a further point in its favour.
