Book Description

"A fun, fast-paced, and fiery romance." --Road to Romance

"...heartwarming and at times heart rending..." --Publisher's Weekly
When a woman who is willing meets a man who isn't listening, it's time for action!

Allison St. Claire has the face of an angel. That's part of the problem. She also sells quaint tea sets in the gift shop at Galveston's Pearl Island Inn. It doesn't exactly scream sexy! Years of having men treat her like a little sister is enough to drive a healthy woman crazy. Especially when a gorgeous hunk checks in and fails to recognize that Allison's more than willing. She's ready...

Frustrated author Scott Lawrence is hoping to get lucky in more ways than one when he checks into the Pearl Island Inn. A little fun in the sun with a beautiful woman may be just the inspiration he needs to cure his writer's block. No fuss. No commitment. But a "good girl" like Allison St. Claire? No way!

When Allison makes her move, every bachelor bone in Scott's body tells him to swim for safety. But stronger instincts prevail, and the heat climbs higher than the temperature on the Texas Coast. Now a four-letter word called love could turn a sweet spring diversion into the most unexpected and complicated fling of their lives.

Product Description

"Julie Ortolon has perfected the art of the male/female relationship." -Virginia Henley "An author on the rise...endearing, emotional, and romantic!" --"Romantic Times"

About the Author

Reviewers from Publisher’s Weekly to Romantic Times have praised Julie Ortolon’s contemporary romance for being “sizzling,” “fast-paced,” and “filled with genuine heart.” Numerous awards for her work include two Bookseller’s Best Awards. Almost Perfect, book one of her Perfect trilogy, was a Rita finalist and was named Best Single Title Contemporary by the readers of Affaire de Coeur magazine.

Julie’s road to success as a romance novelist was a bit bumpier than most authors, however. Her struggle with dyslexia left her functionally illiterate until her mid twenties when she discovered romance novels were worth the effort. To turn her favorite pastime, daydreaming emotionally rich stories, into a career, she taught herself to read, type, and use English as a written language, not just a spoken one. Her struggles made hitting the USA Today list with her first title even more rewarding.

When Julie isn’t writing or reading, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling the world. You can learn more about Julie at or send her an email. She loves to hear from readers and always answers email.

More About the Author

I'm late bloomer when it comes to reading -- and writing. I didn't discover either joy until I discovered romance novels in my early twenties. Now, I'm totally addicted. My biggest joy is bringing all my interests together in my books, to have the chance to celebrate the things that excite me through my characters.

Since I love to travel, all my books are set in places I've actually been. Sometimes those real places morph into fictional places -- like Pearl Island -- but I try to capture the magic of the setting and people in all my books, to make writing them like a trip to a wonderful world where good always triumphs and love always ends in Happily Ever After -- against all odds. That's what makes life worth living, and books worth reading: when someone grabs the brass ring.

Allison's fragile heart is stretched to breaking point. Her young sister has found the love of her life, pregnant with her first baby but Allison seems to be detaching from everything around her. Adrian knows the secret in her past which haunts her and is making it difficult for her to find any comfort in her life. The Inn on Pearl Island is taking shape but it seems that every time the trio make progress they are hampered in their endeavours. She meets Scott a struggling author? and despite her intentions falls in love with him. The cruel twist is that he is the son of a sworn enemy and she has to decide whether she lets him go or whether she fights for his love. Everything is tied into the Inn and Family. A great read for the romantics. Please read all three books you will not be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab! 30 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Have fallen in love with all the characters in the Pearl Island Trilogy. Julie Ortolon is a great writer and seems to get better and better. This story, the second in the trilogy is about the shy sister, Alison, and how she meets someone who finally brings her out of her shell. Continue to have glimpses into the life of her sister too, from the first book, and meet more of Adrian who stars in the final book. A great read. Would heartily recommend!

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a light holiday read, and it hook my interest in all the characters and I was pleased that there were more books in the series which told the story from the other characters perspective. I have read them all now, but this is the first one and best place to start.
