Format: Paperback
Lemone and Burke's Adult Nursing book covers all aspects of care for the acutely ill Adult in today's society. Covering areas such as obesity, respiratory disease and more this book certainly enables you to understand the complex conditions and treatments available in various healthcare settings.

Taking for example the chapter on caring for people with gastrointestinal problems, the book takes you through the anatomy and physiology of this system without becoming too complicated. Once you have understood the anatomy fundamentals the book then gives you some information on various types of conditions that can lead to such conditions within the gastrointestinal tract such as obesity and what this does to the body.

I particularly found useful the fast facts sections within each chapter, here the book gives you key facts on conditions and links for websites so you can research further. Throughout the book are brilliant case studies which ask you to consider all aspects of the patients care and how you would assess and treat a patient and even looking at the patient from a holistic point of view.

Overall I found this book to be a great resource in studying A&P and particularly whilst on placement, where it will help support a student and assist in seeing signs and symptoms and illness and disease.

Format: Paperback
This book is very complex in regard to the material that it conveys. When I started to read this, I thought it was going to heavy reading. This I found to be incorrect, it flows well and the guided tour in how the book is laid out at the front was very useful. I will be using this to aid me in my course as the information will be invaluable for this part of my training.
It has the information that all personnel that work in the health care environment would find very useful. It covers a wide range of core subjects, not just in respect to the hospital environment but the community as well. Furthermore, it has case studies and again, a wide range of aspects to test your learning in each of the areas. To help the explanation of the areas, there are also anatomy and physiology diagrams to aid the understanding. Then at the end of each subject they have put the references used to aid the individual to increase their knowledge and analyses of the subject which is very handy for assignments or CPD evidence.
I recommend this book, as previously stated to all people involved in Acute and ongoing care/ health care. However, not just the professionals but any member of staff / carer.

A exceptionally well written and easy to understand text book. I referenced to it several times during my third year assignments and in exams. It makes sense of some rather complicated subjects while not allowing you to become bogged down in too much detail.
