The string to tension the throwing arm goes through a big hole in a narrow piece of dowel, which you turn to wind it up, that snapped on its first use. Do NOT buy this until the design is changed.

I bought this for my grandson. My partner and I had great fun playing with it before we gave it to him. It is sturdy and attractive. He was also given Le Toy Van Painted Wooden My First Castle RedHe is very happy with both.

Simple toy, far from historically accurate, so no use for the history buffs, or for teaching how the real ones work. I want it to teach about controlling variation within manufacturing processes - so it is fine for my needs, and probably OK for bombarding sandcastles and plastic toys!
