More About the Author

Facebook Page:

I grew up on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in England, where the rolling countryside was criss-crossed by endless dry stone walls, and where the rugged, desolate romanticism of the Moors inspired a life-long love of nature and creative expression. Yet, in literary terms I have been a slow starter, and my apprenticeship particularly long. Although I have been writing material as diverse as plays, poems, stories and articles for almost as long as I can remember, 'Le Temps Viendra' was my first published work of historical fiction.

My CV certainly defies convention and records a life that has been led cultivating whatever has moved me; this, of course, has changed as I have myself have evolved over time. Thus, I came to be a historical novelist after already carving out two successful careers; first as a physician then later, in business as a leadership coach (Hence my book: 'Egoless: The Final frontier in Leadership'. I now enjoy managing a diverse portfolio of interests, which encompasses my passion for learning and growth, as well as my love of creative endeavour and Tudor history.

In terms of my writing, I am inspired by the life stories of strong and courageous women who defy convention; women who remained true to themselves and their sense of purpose in often incredibly trying circumstances. In writing about such women, I suspect that I crave to know more of how those qualities, which I so admire, were cultivated in the heat of a passionate existence.Yet, in my historical writing, I also strive to 'Make.History.Real' and so in retelling these stories, I place a strong emphasis on historical accuracy wherever possible, using the full range of sensory experience to help readers become deeply drawn into the action as it unfolds.

In writing about Anne's story, I unexpectedly fell head over heels in love with the sometimes intriguing, sometimes magnificent palaces that formed the backdrop to her life. As a result, a project was conceived to co-author a non-fiction book called 'In the Footsteps of Anne Boleyn' with Natalie Grueninger (From 'On the Tudor Trail'). This book will be a guide to all the places and artefacts associated with Anne Boleyn. It is due to be published in late 2013 / early 2014 by Amberley Publishing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time travel and Tudors? What is not to like 22 July 2013
I am really not a big fan of historical fiction. It's like having a bath with your socks on to be honest. Why read fiction when you can get your teeth well and truly into fact!? But this is something different, something clever and something well worth reading. Sarah Morris has hit just the right level on writing this, enticing people in who know something of the Tudor world, but also leaving the door ajar for first timers. She introduces you to characters, but then also tells you a little bit about them, something of their history and what their own idiosyncracies are, and where they're coming from. Both the Anne's are feisty characters, ladies who know what they want and set out to get it, but the historical Anne much more so. Her lack of sympathy for Catherine of Aragon is sometimes a bit hard to swallow, but you understand at the same time why she is like she is. Even Henry for once has his magnetic personality focussed on, rather than his usual girth and sloughing legs, so for me personally, that is a real plus point!
Sarah Morris is a delightful, charming lady, and is an author of tremendous skill and promise. I for one cannot wait for part two of this intriguing, clever, almost unique novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book so far! 14 Mar 2013
This is the best book I've read about Anne Boleyn. The author has managed to completely capture life in tudor Britain and every page makes you feel like you are there watching Anne and Henry's story play out right rather then reading it. I can wait for volume 2 to be published. For anyone who likes the tudors and especially Anne Boleyn needs to read this book!! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 9 Mar 2013
By Sadie
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a fantastic read. I have been following the author on Facebook while she was writing the book and have waited a long time for it to be available on kindle, it was totally worth the wait. What I love the most about it is the different perspective of Tudor history, through the eyes of a 21st century character and ultimately Anne Bolyen herself. Well worth a read!

I have just finished reading book one, and I LOVED it! I have been following Sarah's facebook page for awhile and was so eagerly anticipating this book. It does not disappoint. It takes you so clearly to Tudor England it feels like you are there watching Anne's story unfold.

I can not wait for book two! As I posted to Sarah on the Le Temps Viendra facebook page:

4.0 out of 5 stars A unique spin on the Anne Boleyn story 8 April 2013
By Sarah
Sarah Morris' debut novel is well written, meticulously researched, and above all a very different look at the life of Henry VIII's second queen. Our heroine, Anne, writes her story from her prison in the Tower of London while awaiting execution.

The scenes in the novel are set excellently, with lots of lovely details about clothes and decor. Her characters are also brought to life well, the different sides of their personalities shining through. There were a few personal touches I found lovely in the novel- seeing Katherine Howard as a young girl was a point that made me really smile! Anne's intimate moments with the king were also good- some were loving, others more exciting!

What I really enjoyed about this novel was experiencing the thoughts and feelings of a twenty first century woman in the sixteenth century world; Anne navigated herself through her new world well, knowing what was to happen but somehow unable to change anything. It really is a good job our Anne was a Tudor history fan! There is also Anne's confusion at finding herself first suddenly in the sixteenth century, then just as suddenly back in the twenty first again, which is handled well by the author.

The novel covers just over a year of Anne Boleyn's life, beginning in May 1527; and several years in the life of Modern Anne (though less of the modern story is told- the bulk of the novel is historical). The end of the novel leaves you at a real cliffhanger- I am very much looking forward to part two of Le Temps Viendra.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read 27 Feb 2013
I have followed Sarah's journey on Facebook in the writing of this book therefore it was eagerly awaited. I was not disappointed - I thoroughly enjoyed it from the very first page. Let me assure you all you dont need to be a Tudor/Anne Boleyn fan to enjoy this book. It is very well written and the attention to detail is incredible. At times I felt as though I too was transported back to the 16th century! I certainly recommend this book and am so looking forward to volume 2. Well done Sarah on your debut novel.
