Product Description

Fittingly for our best-ever review, the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours was one of the greatest battles the Circuit de la Sarthe has ever seen. Get ready to experience the full story of almost 3,000-mile of fast and furious action and a fight for victory which saw the top two cars split by just 15 seconds after 24 hours of drama. Compiling the review has been a painstaking task, editing 24-hours of High Definition race footage into a 4-hour highlights programme with delivers action in every second. The seamless commentary uses a skilful combination of live television and Radio Le Mans broadcasts to ensure as it happens drama throughout. Relive the epic LMP1 duel between the diesel-powered Audi R18TDIs and Peugeot 908s, as well as the highlights of the LMP2 and GT battles which proved just as fiercely contested. Expert analysis guides you through all the major battles, explaining how pit stop strategy, tyre choice and rain played vital roles, plus there are the full stories of the horrifying crashes suffered by Allan McNish and Mike Rockenfeller, Le Mans 2011 was packed with highlights, but it is the down-to-the-flag race between the Audi of Marcel Fassler, Andre Lottere and Benoit Treluyer and the Peugeot of Sebastien Bourdais, Simon Pagenaud and Pedro Lamy for which it will be remembered for generations to come you will want to watch this gripping showdown again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - thanks for listening Duke! 24 Oct 2011

David Hetherington has stolen my thunder to an extent as he is right in all he says. I wrote a scathing review of Duke's 2009 effort as it was dire. 2010 was a vast improvement and 2011 is the best Le Mans review I have seen so far.

They have crammed 4 hours of coverage in and the inclusion of the clock for the race lets you know where you are up to. The commentators (including posh bloke) were actually at the circuit so the commentary is live as it happens. The Witching hours are covered by Radio Le Mans, which as anyone who follows the great will know is a very professional outfit.

This years race was very dramatic with the Audi/Peugeot race hammering on for the full 24 hours. Get this DVD if you are a fan of endurance racing or motorsport in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great race 29 Nov 2011

If you like Le Mans you'll like this DVD. Its the longest yet and features 4 hours of race action and nothing else. Its also very good that they use the Le Mans radio commentary during the night sections. Also it was a really good race between Audi and Peugeot. Well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Greatly improved on recent efforts 9 Oct 2011
By David H
This four hour review of the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans focuses on the race itself, with only a little mention of the rest of the week's practice and qualifying. It incorporates a large chunk of Radio Le Mans commentary, which is a very welcome improvement, and gives a good impression of the unfolding story of this year's race. A great improvement on recent efforts, and I would be very happy if this format is kept for subsequent years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good review of a fantastic race 4 Nov 2011
By Smyth
Having been at the race its always difficult to keep tabs on exactly what happens, but the review helps to piece together what does. Good footage (not much more they could have done with the second Audi crash due too its location) it is an excellent momento from a truely amazing place. Well worth a watch for any petrolhead. Shame it takes so long to be released after the June race.
