Product Description

Product Description

From the new wave clicks and space disco of Brooks, Nathan Drew Larsen and Danmass, the 21st century P Funk of Chicken Lips and Sir Drew, from LRD's take on the current NY / DFA sound to Röyksopp's immaculate Electro-Pop and Metro Area's robo-soul, from Velcro Fastener's retro futurism, to Black Strobes futuristic retroism, and with the likes of the now duly recognised Ewan Pearson, Swayzak, Swag and Soul Mekanik all representing, 'Le Future Le Funk' is a signpost marked 'this way forward' along what can seem a dark and confused road at the moment. Probably.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll love it! 22 May 2003
Format:Audio CD
Hooj have managed to pull it off again. Great tunes, effortlessly mixed into one seamless journey.
The thing with Hooj's releases is that you should listen to them as the DJ intends - from start to finish. The tracks all seem to make sense together that way. Le Future Le Funk is a great mix of contemporary funky house all with a French house vibe. There are of course stand out tracks in the form of, "In The Underground - Psycho Radio", "Please Stay (Röyksopp Remix) - Mekon and Miss You (Les Rhythmes Digitales Mix) - Mirwais but all in all the album is pure stand out and no fillers. I was well impressed with the quality and it's great to get you going before a night out... Buy it! C'est tres a la mode!

4.0 out of 5 stars Future house movements 16 Sep 2003
Format:Audio CD
Owner of Hooj tunes, Red Jerry, steps up once again to follow up his Nu Progressive Era, Further and Form & Function mixes. His sound has evolved a long way from the edgy electronic thump of Nu Progressive Era and finds itself heading down the very fashionable deep house, punky house and 80's influence house. All the elements are in place, big tracks and artists such as Chicken Lips, Metro Area, Soul Mekanik, Mirwais, Audio Bullys, Royksopp and 16b. It really is a showcase of the house sound of 'now'. The only drawback for me, is Red Jerry's mixing. Don't get me wrong, its damn good and all, but it just leaves me a little cold, lacking a little spark in places and losing the flow. And there is a bit of competition popping up on Hooj for competition in the form of outstanding mixes from Tom Middleton and James Jabiela. But that is a very MINOR gripe, and one that has carried through all of his compilations. A personal thing. Other than that, you do have a fine collection of tracks which does stand out from the crowd. You won't get anything that sounds like this anywhere else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooj once again show us how its done 1 April 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Hooj, the ever evolving house label - always moving with the times, often one step ahead of the competition, bring us this, their latest compilation "Le Future Le Funk".
This double discer blends deep house, techy rhythms and nu-house grooves and features an array of amazing tracks, from Royksopp's brilliantly melodic remix of Mekon, to shouty punk-house from the Audio Bullys and warm trippy deep ambient house from new hooj artist, Bermuda Triangle.
This album is definetly worth checking out.
