    BOXED SET 4 Nov 2007
By Mirage HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER
    COLOUR : GRANITE

Perfect for a gentle bruising to a hefty pounding, and anything in between!

Using this mortar and pestle, those 'just-picked' herbs can be easily bruised or seeds crushed/ground up, depending on the texture required for the required recipe, or potion!
The opportunity to use herbs at their freshest cannot be missed, thus creating the satisfaction of a 'home-made' blend, which, in turn, never fails to personalise the flavour of e.g. a curry, in my opinion.
Afterwards...... the fresh aroma of gently bruised mint leaves and rosemary, tames that inevitable cooking after-smell in the kitchen!

    GENERAL DETAILS:-

The mortar, with a relatively narrow base of approximately 5.25 cm, has a glazed exterior and an unglazed interior with an indentation which offers the facility for a handy rest when the grinding gets really tough.......especially with those stubborn peppercorns!

The pestle, which is approximately 15 cm in length, has a comfortable-to-hold, glazed handle and the unglazed tip helps to maximise friction.

Being made of STONEWARE, it is easy to clean and flavours are not retained.....and there is the added bonus of being dishwasher safe.

Le Creuset embossed, this stylish duo come encased in a sturdy box, complete with STONEWARE use/care instructions, and would make an excellent gift for the chef who already has everything else!

    CERISE
    VOLCANIC

Well, you put things in and bash them up. It works as you'd expect. My only concern is it is not quite large enough for me which is why I docked it a star. Other than that its better than the Mason Cash one it is replacing.

A fantastic pestle & mortar, attractive and very effective, I purchased this for my grandmother after she dropped her original, non-Le Creuset. After using this myself at my Grandmothers last week, I realised that the pestle is actually hollow and as such is very light; also there is a small hole in the top of the pestle, as it's hollow this hole allows water to seep in, filling up the pestle, which is then very hard to empty again: leaking water all over whatever it is you're trying to grind.
