Before first use: remove all labels and protective packaging. Ensure kettle handle is locked into the upright position. Once in position do not try to unlock. Also, wash kettle in hot water, then fill with clean water and bring to the boil and discard this water.
As with all metal surfaces in contact with high temperatures, please take caution when handling Le Creuset Kettles heated on the stove. Le Creuset proudly uses high heat resistant plastic on our handles and whistles; however, we encourage you to use a Le Creuset oven mitt to remove whistle before pouring.
How to use
Never heat up an empty kettle or fill beyond level marked on the outside of the kettle.
Match kettle base to size of ring/burner.
Do not tip kettle upside down when pouring as water may spill from the lid.
Do not leave kettle simmering for long periods on any heat source - it may boil dry which will damage the base enamel.
Remove whistle carefully with a cloth before pouring - caution, whistle may be hot.
Avoid leaving water in kettle when not in use, as a build up of scale may occur and reduce efficiency.
Do not bang the kettle down onto any hob or work surface. Repeated knocks may damage the enamel.
A gentle de-scaler may be used periodically, if required.
Use on Aga/Rayburn Stoves:
Do not heat kettle on simmering plate - always use fast plate.
If plate has been open, close the plate to allow the plate to recover heat before heating the kettle.

I bought the kettle for the gorgeous design and the great reputation of the Le Creuset brand. I read the reviews after I'd bought it and started to worry. There was no need. It works brilliantly.
I've had no problems with the whistle (though I find it sounds slightly louder when rotated according to the picture on the box) and it looks amazing. Of course it takes slightly longer than an electric kettle, but you expect that when you buy one that sits on the hob. Be realistic.
I'm over the moon with my new kettle, it's brilliant and works exactly as I expected it to. If you're tempted, buy one.

I brought this kettle, even after reading alot of bad reviews, however being a loyal creuset customer, I decided to buy the kettle, and try it for myself.
If you are looking for a smart 'on the Hob' kettle, then this is ideal, however it seems people are too much comparing it too an electric kettle.
The kettle can be very easily cleaned, so its good to be able to keep the limescale away, without the hassle of cleaning an electric kettle. Yes it can spit a little when boiling, but I havnt come across a hob kettle that doesn't, but this aside, with mine it has not been akward to pick the kettle up once it has boiled.
The outer shelf off the kettle is easy to keep shiney, and there does not seem to be any problem with rust. The kettle looks smart, and does eactly what you want from a hob kettle.
In terms of boiling, dependant how many drinks you are making, if you fill it to the correct amount of water, it doesnt take long to boil at all, and boils quickly when placed back onto the hob if you fancy another cuppa.
Overall im very happy with my Kone Kettle.

Delighted with product, this our second and I'm glad to see the whistler is now permanently fixed to the kettle, we boiled our last one dry when we forgot to put the spout back on!Faultless service through Amazon as ever.

Potentially dangerous
The LC kettle is a possible danger to users. When boiled the kettle has a tendancy to spit the contents rather than pour. Quite possible due to the tight fitting lid. Read more
