Product Description
The Kone Kettle lid is made with a small indentation underneath in order to let some steam escape through the lid, this is because if all the steam went through the whistle it would create to much pressure. The way to avoid the steam going onto the handle is to ensure you put the lid on with the indentation facing the side either left or right (if you look at the kettle from above) which means the escaping steam will go to either the left or the right but not underneath the handle. This will stop the handle from getting hot.

Sheer elegance on the stove and usefully frees up precious counter space taken up by a traditional kettle!
I have two of these, which I alternate. Both were acquired in 2004 and I have not experienced any of the problems that other reviewers have commented on.
I do tend to use them for smaller amounts of water...... for beverages rather than boiling larger amounts for cooking....and, mine whistle away, although not particularly piercingly, which suits me!
Stylish looking and suitable for all heat sources, including ceramic and induction, the base conducts heat evenly across the wide bottom and up the sides of the kettle, quickly heating the water.
Tight-fitting lid and folding/locking handle aids safety.
Sturdily boxed with full instructions supplied, this would make an ideal gift.
Available in other colours, including:-
ALMOND (aka DUNE)
CERISE RED
VOLCANIC ORANGE
along with:-
BLACK & WHITE

Lovely vivid blue colour of Le Creuset. I found that it does not always whistle but apart from that it does the job.
Having read reviews on this Kettle I was in two minds about ordering. So pleased I did. The blue colour is gorgeous and really brings my new kitchen together. Quality is as expected from Le Creuset. It does take a little longer to boil than my electric kettle but I don't see that as a problem. I have no trouble hearing the whistle, which whilst not too piercing is quite loud enough.

If you fancy a traditional and well made Kettle with Whistle, Le Creuset is what are you looking for. Don't forget about increadible colour chart available for it too :)
