Le Creuset proudly uses high heat resistant plastic on our handles and whistles; however, we encourage you to use a Le Creuset oven mitt to remove whistle before pouring.
How to use
Never heat up an empty kettle or fill beyond level marked on the outside of the kettle.
Match kettle base to size of ring/burner.
Do not tip kettle upside down when pouring as water may spill from the lid.
Do not leave kettle simmering for long periods on any heat source - it may boil dry which will damage the base enamel.
Remove whistle carefully with a cloth before pouring - caution, whistle may be hot.
Avoid leaving water in kettle when not in use, as a build up of scale may occur and reduce efficiency.
Do not bang the kettle down onto any hob or work surface. Repeated knocks may damage the enamel.
A gentle de-scaler may be used periodically, if required.
Use on Aga/Rayburn Stoves:
Do not heat kettle on simmering plate - always use fast plate.
If plate has been open, close the plate to allow the plate to recover heat before heating the kettle.

It works, and whistles, for me!
Sheer elegance on the stove and usefully frees up precious counter space taken up by a traditional kettle!
I have two of these, which I alternate. Both were acquired in 2004 and I have not experienced any of the problems that other reviewers have commented on. I do tend to use them for smaller amounts of water...... for beverages rather than boiling larger amounts for cooking....and, mine whistle away, although not particularly piercingly, which suits me!

I am trying to do my bit for the environment and decided to dispose of my electric kettle.
After much searching on the high street and internet I decided on the Le Creuset Kone Kettle. Brilliant purchase and impressive service. The kettle is efficient, alerts you with its whistle when it is boiled and what is more, it is easy on the eye and quite a conversation piece to friends and family when they drop in for a brew.

This little kettle is delightful and it works well on Gas or wood-burning stove. The lid is a bit stiff but otherwise it is a great little kettle and looks very smart

Great kettle
Great kettle, whistle works well - neither too loud nor too quiet. Handle doesn't get hot. Lid fits well. Good all rounder.

Pretty Kettle for AGA
Girlfriend was over the moon with this gift .... it really looks the part in black on the Aga. Making a brew has never been so much fun! ;0)

Really attractive & quick to boil.
