Product Description

The Observer, (Dave Gelly), May 18, 2008

Delicately arranged and played by a cast of our top jazz musicians...Fran is still in great form...a little treasure.

Jazzwise, (Peter Quinn), July 2008

Brilliantly arranged and produced by Wallace...a band of exceptional depth and experience...an album of beguiling variety and detail.

Album Description

'A Lazy Kind Of Love' marks an exciting new direction for vocalist Sarah Moule and it looks set to confirm her reputation as one of the UK's finest interpreters of modern song. Building on the success of her two highly acclaimed releases for Linn Records, the new album is packed with surprising, intriguing and delightful songs delivered with insight, character and a seductive lightness of touch, which combine to draw the listener into the world of each lyric.

The songs come from Beat Generation Survivor Fran Landesman and Simon Wallace; the controversial journalist Julie Burchill, who makes her song co-writing debut with Landesman and Wallace on the title track; Australian writer and broadcaster Clive James and his longtime song-writing partner Pete Atkin, who sings harmony vocals on "Living In Overdrive"; and composer and producer (and Madonna's brother-in-law) Joe Henry. Complementing these contemporary songs are the Bob Dorough/Terrell Kirk Jnr classic "Devil May Care", and Jule Styne/Sammy Cahn's "I Fall In Love Too Easily".

Produced and arranged by Simon Wallace, this collection reflects his thirty year musical career performing around the world from Bogota to Bangkok, London, New York and Europe. With Sarah at its centre, Wallace has assembled a group of outstanding British musicians, the core of which is the trio with whom Sarah has been working regularly for a number of years - Simon Wallace (piano), Mark Hodgson (bass) and Paul Robinson (drums). In addition "A Lazy Kind Of Love" features Alec Dankworth playing bass on two tracks, Mike Outram on guitar, Clive Bell on shakuhachi, Alan Barnes on saxes and Paul Clarvis on percussion.

Personnel:
Sarah Moule - (vocals), Simon Wallace - (piano, Hammond organ, accordion), Mark Hodgson - (bass), Paul Robinson - (drums), Alec Dankworth - (bass - 12,13), Mike Outram - (guitar), Clive Bell - (shakuhachi), Alan Barnes - (saxophones), Paul Clarvis - (percussion)
