Synopsis
This is a collaborative portrait of a young woman discovering her sexuality for the first time. Actually, John just wanted to photograph young Layley and her horse for an equestrian magazine. Then they left out the horse. Then her clothes. And finally all restrictions. A unique collaboration between model and photographer. John Donegan had long wanted to create an erotic series using only one girl and when he shot Layley for a print advert in an equestrian magazine he realised he'd found his girl. Layley, never having done nude work before, was unsure until she saw the results of the pictures. She loved them. The pair established a new plan for working, with photographer and model as equal co-creators, a technique rarely attempted. Each new photo session became a fresh erotic discovery for Layley. The pair had simple rules. Nothing would be faked; the eroticism would always be real. In the resulting images Layley seems strongly connected to her audience, a young woman discovering a newfound eroticism at the same time as her readers are seeing it. The observer and the observed, voyeurs together. Layley is as excited to see her photographs as she is to be in them.Each picture is a new step on her journey of discovery and ultimately she may be the biggest voyeur of all, as surprised and delighted by the images she has created as her audience is to see them.

These are wonderfully personal, almost private photos of a young blonde named Layley. She could actually be that slender pretty girl who lives down the street or even next door, the shy one. She has a "biting her lip" kind of innocence in many pictures, but she also finds herself experiencing what looks like some very real fetish scenes in other photographs. The contrasting images of her are quite exciting. These photographs show a sexual force you don't expect from such a lovely innocent creature. Very hot. Very cool. A collection of images I will look at over and over.

This is a marvelous book of nude portraiture from a photographer that was relatively unknown in the genre of art nudes, at least until just recently. This book is sure to catapult Donegan to ever greater heights, especially given his renown in the commercial sectors of fashion and music. Every image is black & white, razor sharp, and superbly composed, with just an occasional of hint of quirkiness that reminds one of Helmut Newton's similar tendencies. The production quality is flawless and text is provided in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese.The sole subject of this book is Layley. She is young, dashing, and unquestionably beautiful. She also bears a striking resemblance to American film actress Robin Wright. But this book is more than a nude portfolio of a pretty girl. It is an exhaustive collaboration between model and photographer where Donegan serves not so much as the director or coach but as a universal voyeur. The amazing dynamic captured here is Layley discovering and unabashedly relishing her newfound sense or power, derived from her own sense of self and burgeoning sexuality. Donegan serves as the divining rod, he's a water boy drawing from the well. Layley is electrifying. She poses and prances and twists her delicious frame oozing sexuality from every pore unlike anyone seen before. Rarely has a work generated such heat without resorting to the obvious cliches so rampant in porn. The work presented ranges from soft nudes to sensual fetish to nuclear-powered spread shots. And what she does with her derriere is absolutely incredible. Layley possesses more charisma in that single region of her body than most snake-handling evangelicals can generate in even the most orchestrated retreats.
