I thought this would sound just like a house of lords record. i was wrong, beleive it or not this album is better than Big Money. Its not as heavy as his previuos work, this record is full of AOR. I think James has done a great job on the songs and production! The songs are really catchy and will give you a great summer. Im certainly going to have my day in the sun! Really nice work. Please tour soon!

The man just goes from stength to strength. Always a fan of his music, from the solo work to House of Lords and he never fails to deliver. A fantastic voice and music that will rock your soul.

Nine years on from "Meet The Man" and we're finally treated to another solo album from House of Lords singer, James Christian. He has one of the great melodic rock voices and if he'd been born a few years earlier would have been known far and wide. Something else to thank grunge for.

Recorded at his home studio in Florida and self produced, this sees Christian collaborating with the likes of Tommy Denander, Chris Pelcer, Jimi Bell and Jeff Kent, who've all contributed songs to the album, and it's an absolute peach. With fellow House Of Lord members Jeff Kent (keys), BJ Zampa (drums) and Jimi Bell (guitars) making up the band (with Christian himself subbing for Lords bassist Chris McCarvill), it's hard to spot the join, although the songs here move away from the pompier aspects of his main band.

Whatever, songs like the title track, `Sincerely Yours' and `You're So Bad' can hold their heads high alongside his best work.

PERFECTION: But What Else Would You Expect? 21 July 2013
By John P. Baker - Published on Amazon.com

James Christian has one of the greatest voices in Melodic Rock!!! He is fantastic as the lead singer of House Of Lords, but he gets a lot more personal on his solo projects. While overall not as heavy rock as House Of Lords, it is a WONDERFUL ALBUM!!!! A wide assortment of songs on the album. Some straight up hard rockers, mid tempo songs, and some beautiful ballads. The album gets better and better every time I listen to it. As far as MELODIC ROCK MUSIC goes, this could be the best album of the YEAR!!!! If you like great melodic rock with the greatest active vocalist in rock music today, this is for you. Thanks for your time,

Phil Baker

James Christian is nothing if not consistent 9 Aug. 2013

This CD is like the soundtrack to some inspiring 80's movie where the protagonist overcomes the odds to win some race or the hand of a girl with big hair. All of his music sounds like it is from 1987, but I mean that in a good way. I have all the House of Lords CDs and this fits right in. I'll keep buying his CDs as long as he keeps recording new ones.

Too Poppy for my Tastes 29 Aug. 2013

Having been a fan of all of his work I was very disappointed by this release. He takes a long time between CD's so I was very happy to get the release info in my email. After the first listen I was okay with my purchase but not happy with the CD, being a completest I pick up every new release to support artists no matter what other ratings or reviews might say. The Cd won't bring any new converts, a shame considering how great his many forays into rock n' roll have been. My suggestion to those who might not know his work is to check out the great stuff he has released with the House of Lords to see why I was so disappointed with this release.

Album of the year for me (so far)! 15 Aug. 2013

James Christian is a "phone book" singer for me - I would love him singing anything. Having said that, the sheer quality of the songs and performances on this CD are just of the highest quality. I've read others talk about poor production values, but frankly I don't hear it...at all. Judge for yourself and pick this up immediately. A must have for 2013.
Another fine solo album from the voice of House of Lords 4 Dec. 2014
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com

2013’s Lay It All on Me is the third solo album from James Christian, the voice (and driving force) of melodic hard rock band House of Lords. It’s always a bit odd when the chief creative person in a band feels the need to do their own thing, especially when they bring their bandmates along, but Christian’s solo albums – which we get about once a decade – are usually quite good.

Lay It All on Me follows the trend of Christian’s previous two solo offerings (1994’s Rude Awakening and 2004’s Meet the Man) in that the songs veer more towards the lighter, AOR side of things. The average House of Lords album always has a ballad or two, but here you get a lot of smoother love songs and not much in the way of a hard rock edge. This isn’t a bad thing, as Christian is a superb songwriter and has such a heartfelt and expressive vocal style that’s perfect for this kind of melodic rock. The album has some really nice acoustic elements, and it’s cool hearing Robin Beck on backing vocals. The title track, “Sincerely Yours” and “Let It Shine” are some highlights, but the whole album is really solid.

It’s probably not as essential as the earlier James Christian solo releases, but if you liked those and are a fan of his work in House of Lords, Lay It All on Me is a worthwhile purchase. Christian has one of the best and most recognizable voices in melodic rock, and it’s always good to hear him in this more laid back setting.
