Product Description

Book Description

A fast-paced memoir set in the underworld of sports betting, for fans of bestselling gambling stories like Bringing Down the House

Product Description

A true story of money, sex, glamour and gambling.

When Beth Raymer arrived in Las Vegas, her dreams didn't extend beyond getting herself a job as a cocktail waitress at a casino on the strip. And then she met Dink, one of the biggest gamblers in town, and found herself seduced by the adrenalin-fuelled, high risk, high reward world of professional sports betting and the obsessive, funny, rule-breaking bookies that run the show.

Lay the Favourite gives a gripping glimpse into a high stakes underworld where the difference between winning big and losing everything you have comes down to how smart you play.

Format:Paperback
Unusual look at the bookie industry in the US with all the tricks needed to avoid the authorities. Written from a woman's perspective it delivers in prose and pace. I wanted more gritty detail and more to some of the characters but I read this easily and that rarely happens.

Make a good film which is the obvious intent.
