All the seasons of Special Victims Unit are fantastic, but I think they do the almost impossible by becoming even better with each new season. This tenth series is simply superb. The storylines and scripts are incredible. The plots are often complex and end up being about something quite different from what you think they're going to be about. They are so tightly written and acted, and directed, that a huge amount is packed into less than an hour (but without the feeling of being rushed). I always feel, after watching an episode, that I've just seen a full-length feature film. I can't wait for the eleventh season to be released over here! All the episodes in series ten are great; some are truly wonderful. My favourite episode, Liberties, guest stars Alan Dale (Jim Robinson off Neighbours!); I won't say anything else about it in case I accidentally slip in a spoiler. The series finale is also brilliant.
As usual, Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni provide flawless acting. My only slight complaint is that the characters of Munch and Tutuola (Richard Belzer and Ice-T) are under-used. I think their characters are just as good as Elliott and Olivia's, their banter brings some welcome light relief to the show, and I wish we saw a bit more of them. But that doesn't stop me loving the programme. And when you've watched it all once, you can watch it again - you often notice little nuances that you didn't cotton on to the first time.
I would just warn people that it is not suitable for watching while children are around. The episodes are very gritty and contain a lot of very violent sexual content. This is in no way gratuitous, but I don't think anyone under fifteen or sixteen should watch it.

SVU is a very good show, if sometimes a little over dramatised in order to make the lead characters more heroic. Munch is my favourite and he's absolutely amazing with his anti-establishment views. His input could be more, however I will take whatever comes. The storylines (back drop, not how they are handled) are the learning curve - it is stunning to know these things happen in real life. I just wish the writers stopped over emphasizing dedication with 'days without sleep' no cop in their right mind would believe only they could solve this crime. Surely they have laws too, preventing their health and safety being impaired. Despite that flaw, which I can often find irritating (I know, you're thinking why do I bother watching at this point) this show is exceptional. When they do it right, NO SHOW does it better.
Stabler is a little rough and short tempered too - they need to remember these guys are professionals and should be cooler under pressure - still, the other side of me wants to leap in and help! Love the cast, they fit well. Wong is another favourite. Watch this show and see if you enjoy it as much as I do.
An aside here - Detective John Munch is created by the actor, Richard Belzer, he's played the character in The X Files 1997, as well as, Homicide Life on the Street, the series and the movie, the original Law and Order, The Wire (2008), The Beat, and Jimmy Kimmel 'Live' in 2009 I am uncertain that any other character has appeared across so many shows.

I am a HUGE fan of SVU and I have all the box sets but as in most American programmes, they don't know where to draw the line when a programme has run its course and inevitably begin rely on ridiculous storylines and boring endings which made me tune out most of the time. I can see why Christopher Meloni left after this season, probably to hold on to his integrity as an actor, Mariska Hargitay should follow suit and let the series go out on a high note it deserves. If season 10 is anything to go by SVU has definitely run its course.

The best of the three Law and Order family of which the original was always the worst.
The stories can make for some difficult watching and the two lead detectives do not always get the bad guys but do so probably more often than happens in reality. Sometimes the maximum possible penalty is never going to be enough.
