** This is the US version of LOOK LIKE A STAR, not a new book **I'm a huge fan of Luke's Youtube channel and she is great when she appears on This Morning to present the week's hottest celebrity make-up looks, so I was really excited to learn she has published a make-up guide. Having now read it, I can fully recommend it to people who are new to or are starting to experiment with new looks. LOOK LIKE A STAR is written in a cozy style - it's like you're having a cup of coffee with Ms. Luke. The looks are broke down into easy to follow steps; each step also has a clear photograph to help readers follow the steps. That said I didn't actually learn anything new, and other readers who are comfortable using make-up won't either. Lauren does provide advice and tips; but I already knew it. And Lauren's own make-up looks are interesting, but again, I've already done very similar looks many, many times. Let's have a peek at the book's main selling point... The celebrity looks A friendly warning: The key word for the celeb looks is 'inspired'. If you're expecting a step-by-step guide to re-create the choosen celeb look, you'll be disapointed. I imagine that most people will have bought this for the celebrity inspired looks. I personally found the 25 celeb look's that have been choosen a bit of a let down, to be completly honest; Even the Lady GaGa look she does is toned down and is quite dull. Don't get me wrong, the looks are pretty, but if I looked at a photo in a magazine I'd be able to recreate most of the looks without needing to flick through a book. I found the Taylor Swift and Cheryl Cole looks in particular too easy. Even less confident make-up users wouldn't need a guide in a book to re-create the looks. I would still buy another Lauren Luke book, if one was ever published, just because of the nice, intimate writing style. Lauren's bubbley personality shine's through, like it does on Youtube. I'll keep my finger's crossed for more challenging looks next time :)

A fantastic easy to follow step by step guide to some fabulous make up creations. The book itself is excellent quality. An absolute must have for all Lauren Luke fans.

Lauren Luke Looks25 Celebrity and Everyday Makeup Tutorials What I immediately found refreshing about Lauren Luke's book is that she is an honest down to earth woman who had many bad experiences in her life and has turned herself around to become an international celebrity by doing what she loves the most which is being herself. A single mother trying to make a better living for her and her son, she has become an overnight sensation in the makeup world by posting videos of her applying makeup on You Tube and launching her own cosmetics line. Luke's book is informative as well as fun. I was expecting it to be another step by boring step makeup book and was pleasantly surprised to find that the format could have been put together by a group of girlfriends having an evening out. She uses different colors and fonts in small descriptive blurbs to share her tips which are practical and everyday user friendly and I found myself feeling like I was reading her journal. This book will be a joy to any age group reading her advice. The majority of the book shows Lauren recreating celebrity looks on herself which is what makes this book so good for any person using it. While she is cute and personable, she isn't an exotic goddess. Yet, when she recreates herself in a calmer manner of Lady Gaga, her entire face comes to life. She gives exact details on what cosmetic products to use to make the application goof proof. Lauren Luke makes applying makeup a pleasurable experience and I am sure that she and her son will be living a better life for a long time. Wendy Fitos is a makeup artist and esthetician with 22 years of experience. This book is written in the same style she uses to do her videos on youtube. She gives really good advice and walks you through everything. I didn't need the book to learn but I love Lauren and I am really glad I made the purchase.
