Oliver the Eighth the best one from a set of four. Typically L&H, it starts intriguingly slowly and builds up, with their trademark mannerisms and altercations. The premise of a serial killer in the form of a jilted society lady is a delicious one. Ollie is (unfortunately for him) the eighth suitor with that same name and the previous seven have had their throats cut!
The Laurel & Hardy Murder Case (& a version made in Spanish) goes on to find the prickly pair at a haunted house, with crashing lightning, flying bedsheets and much farcical running around. Great for younger family members, not subtle and clever enough for us older's.
Berth Marks is an OK rummage and shenanigans aboard a sleeper train, with bunk mix ups, lost violins etc.
So, good mixture of shorts, but as nearly always, the weaker ones drag the better one's overall score down. Still, essential for fans of Stan & Ollie.
