Launch: Propel Your Business Ahead of Competition and Become the Leader in Your Market Using Speed and Content

I write a lot of white papers and I am in the marketing business so I always watch Michael Stelzner with interest. I first came across him as "the white paper" guy. I saw the launch for the book but to be honest it was not one that I intended to pick up. I participated in an event on Facebook called The Pre-Holiday Facebook: Game of Like which encouraged you to read this particular title.

It was an interesting read, especially in conjunction with the game which is based on a concept in the book (a Nuclear Fuel Micro Event). The book provides you with a roadmap to get your business into digital content based marketing. As always the concepts he discusses are broken down well into manageable tasks so that you can implement them. He fully illustrates how you can employ them with examples and real-world case studies. If you want to get your business creating quality content, using social media and community to build and leverage your position in the market then this is definitely one to read.

I would also read Guy Kawasaki's Enchantment - they fit well together and help to make sure that you participate in this type of marketing in the right way.

I absolutely loved this book. Having been a blogger for several years this book really pushes the idea about the best way to build trust and a loyal following through good content in order to eventually market your product or service. Unlike most books though it took it one step further and gives you a complete strategy on the types of content to produce, when and how much marketing you should or should not include to get the best results. It also talks about leveraging experts in your niche to mutual benefit, they provide you content your audience will love and in turn they receive extra exposure. This is a book you will want to make notes from and will definitely refer back to.

I'm normally very wary of business books, and avoid them like the plague. I love to be informed and inspired by a multitude of material. Most business books though leave me arguing with the authors concepts and thinking "could be useful, but I feel I hate it, and I think my customers will too!" Or they tell you the obvious. As I'm starting a new business I'm a bit more open to a wider range of new ideas and I saw this book mentioned somewhere so I got the Kindle version.

I've found nothing to argue about, nothing that I think my customers will hate. The book is full of great ideas. Inspirations and the grit of where Michael failed and what worked for him. Backed up by suggestions to help you find the things that will work for your customers because they are different to his. He seems to genuinely want to help you to find your own path.

I don't agree with all he says, but the book has been genuinely thought provoking and my business plan has been tweaked accordingly. Thanks Michael.

The author writes from personal experience, and details the steps taken to launch the Social Media Examiner website as well as how it became a success so quickly.

The book is divided into nine chapters, with headings including "Rockets don't fly themselves"; "Starting your mission plan"; "Making Content the Fuel of your Marketing"; and "Creating & Using Nuclear Fuel" - amongst others. In addition there are several appendices containing examples, case studies and interviews.

I found the rocket launch metaphor a little wearing after a while, but the advice and content provided by this book are very helpful. The main message is about the importance of providing plenty of valuable content, free of charge, as an online marketing strategy.

I've been a regular visitor to socialmediaexaminer.com for its great content since it started in 2009, and when I heard Michael A Stelzner was launching his book I knew I had to read it. The thing is, it didn't make it off my 'books to buy' list, until now!

Thanks to Pre-Holiday Facebook Game of Like I've bought the book for my Kindle and whizzed through the first chapter. Very easy to read and already providing excellent value with a simple breakdown of the type of content to produce and how often. In the very first chapter Michael has given away secrets for a successful launch and I know there is so much more to come - I can't wait to continue reading!
