Mrs gadgetshop has developed a Very Annoying Habit. She's taken to drumming-out Van Halen tunes, quite involuntarily, on the dashboard in the car whenever we're waiting at the lights. To save our marriage I suggested a course of electric shock therapy. She, however, beat me to it by spotting this dinky Mini Finger drum kit in my satchel one day. The kit is a faithful replica of a standard issue drum kit complete with bass, snare, large tom, small tom and cymbal, with one clever modification. Beneath the skin of each nestles a tiny sensor, which generates a pulse every time it's tapped. This pulse in turn activates a totally authentic pre-stored sound from the integral speaker, enabling the most wondrous cacophony. For the enthusiast, there's a record mode where you can store your skin-bashing exploits to show off later, as well as a demo mode for the congenitally lazy. Now, whenever she gets the urge to be obsessive, compulsive or otherwise, Mrs G simply lets her fingers do the walking to this tiny marvel, where she bashes away happily before going off to wash her hands 47 times. Meaning a saved marriage, and a clean dashboard.
