A wonderful story about life, love and lattes! 6 Jun. 2005
By Linda Childers - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I saw a review of "Latte Lessons" in a local magazine and was intrigued by the title. I love reading and I love lattes, so it sounded like a great fit! I just finished reading this book in a weekend.Linda Lenhoff manages to write a story that is both hilarious and touching. I loved follwing the story of Claire a 30-year-old copywriter trying to succeed in the world of advertising while mourning her father and trying to adjust to the fact that her 53-year-old mother is dating again. Claire's best pal Jackie begins dating a married politician, while Claire fends off the advances of the lead singer of a hot boy band. Both women believe they know what they are looking for in a relationship, but learn that true love means not selling yourself short and being with someone who loves you no matter what.

I enjoyed the characters in this book and truly felt as if I was peeking into the lives of Claire's co-workers from an adjacent cubicle.

I'm off to read Lenhoff's first book, "Life a la Mode," and hope this author will be offering us many more great books!
Just okay 13 Jan. 2008

Being a huge fan of the "chick lit" genre, I was disappointed in this one. Many of the characters seemed one-dimensional and the banter between them was a little off at times. I had a hard time connecting past the surface on any of the characters, even the main one who dealt with some serious emotional situations at times. In all, a very light and fluffy read--it kept my attention, but just barely. There were several parts that were interesting enough to keep it from being a one star, but can't say I'd recommend it to any of my friends.

Latte Lessons had me laughing out loud several times. I especially enjoyed Claire’s witty observations on everything from yoga to the overuse of the word whore. It also doesn’t hurt that Claire’s friends are as engaging as she is (Dennis is a personal favorite), and Claire’s mom is a hoot-- oh, and there’s also the sexy leader of a boy band making advances. Lenhoff’s writing is smooth and seamless and Latte Lessons had me hooked from the start. It’s a terrific novel filled with smart, funny characters.

I read this on vacation at the beach with husband and kids in tow. If your looking for a light escape with not much content or character developement, this is the book for you. The book was ah...a cute story.... It did hold my attention, and was funny at times, but was too contrived towards the end. Not the best read.
