When learning LaTeX, only web resources was not enough for me: it took me too long to find the things I needed, especially when trying to tweak appearance and layout of my reports. This companions package is very comprehensive. The LaTeX introduction is excellent and gives already much of what I needed. When this is not enough, the LaTeX and Graphics Companion are exhaustive. I did not use the Web Companion yet, but even for three books this is an excellent deal. One minor drawback: in my set, there is a slight difference in color of the covers: some books are 'whiter' than others, which is visually not nice on the shelf. But still: very good value for money!
