5.0 out of 5 stars At Last More Bob Pegg, 20 Jun 2005
This review is from: The Last Wolf (Audio CD)
It was a delight to discover that there was a new Bob Pegg album out after a quarter of a century of waiting. It was worth it. Here at last are studio versions of Fiddlers Cross and The Last Dance, though a fine live tape of Bob at the Bulls Head in Warrington in the early 1980's had captured these classic songs. Anyone who has seen Bob play live will know what a compelling performer he is, witty, knowledgable and self effacing.
Bob's voice is warm and worldly, you feel he has lived every word he sings.
The production is good-better than Ancient Maps and there is space for the music and lyrics to breathe. as I say anyone familiar with Bob's live work will want this album. if you are not then you do not know what you are missing buy this album and find out.
Now do we have to wait a further 25 years for the next one? There are many fine songs still waiting to be recorded Son of Fiddler's Cross and Let Minstrals Beware being but two.
