Musically Literate Pagan Says:
This is it, the business. For years I have batting about between two poles: shamanic music that is not authentic either musically or experientially and some wonderful recordings by shamans in their native environments ("Shaman,Jhankri,Nele" and others) but have found them difficult to work to myself as they are very specific and more anthropological. This soundtrack falls between the two. It captures the atmosphere of Otherworld work perfectly and distills the essence of the various native environments without leaving the feeling of being the outsider looking in. The Mudlark Calypso has good humour in it and was a surprise addition to a soundtrack so spiritually moving ! (Listen to it & you'll see what I mean !) The audio soundscapes created to present the sensations of the shamanic flight of ecstasy are superb and lift it out of just being a soundtrack and turn it into a genuine work of very deeply respectful art. For practising shamans and anthropologists everywhere. There is something for you all on this. For once, I couldn't pick a favourite track. They all have such coherence and excellence. And I can be very hard to please !!
